The Hair of the Dog

2004

DV-video Pal, 4:3, color, sound, 7:37 min

This work is a performance-based video. The action has an abject quality, it shows a man in a suit drinking a beer, then urinating and drinking his own urine - in a visceral physical and conceptual circular movement. The title refers to expression “the hair of the dog that bit you” - used as a metaphor for a hangover treatment. The origin of the phrase is literal, and comes from an erroneous method of treatment of a rabid dog bite by placing hair from the dog in the bite wound.
